Susanne (Schenkelberg) Boland

Susanne Mary Boland (Schenkelberg), 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on March 26, 2023. Susanne was born on January 31, 1947 to the late Robert & Dorothy (Murphy) Schenkelberg. She was a 1965 graduate of Beaumont High School. She attended St. Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana before graduating from John Carroll University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Susanne's passion for education could be seen in her commitment and enthusiasm that she poured into each of her children's classrooms as a parent volunteer. After sending all of her children off to college, she returned to teaching. She taught 1st and 4th grade at both Archbishop Lyke and Mary Queen of Peace Schools in Cleveland from 2002-2020. Susanne was a parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Shaker Heights.
Susanne will be remembered by her gentle, caring, and loving spirit as well as her playful sense of humor. She was quiet and humble with incredible strength and an abiding faith. She loved nothing more than to be surrounded by, and in the company of, her large, loving family.
In addition to her parents, Susanne was preceded in death by her brothers Robert & John and sister Lisa. She is survived by her children John, James, Daniel (Tricia), Mary (Blake) Roberts, & Laura (Peter) Bogira; grandchildren Riley, Isabel, Jack, Eliot, Harper, Brady Ray, Evie, Kayla, Lincoln, & Sophia; sisters Patricia (Ron) Ruzica, Mary Beth (Kurt) Karakul, Barbara Kamen, Christine Schenkelberg & Karen (Peter) Sullivan; brothers Charles (Susan) & Richard (Joanne) Schenkelberg, as well as 36 nieces & nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 10, 11 am, at St. Dominic Catholic Church 3450 Norwood Rd, Shaker Heights, OH 44122, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to St. Dominic Catholic Church, the Robert & Dorothy Rita Schenkelberg Endowment Fund for the Fine Arts.
