Steven James Nuspl

On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, we lost the most precious soul in our lives, Steven James Nuspl.

Born 1953 in Akron, Ohio, he attended Manchester High School, graduating in the Class of 1972, as the Class President. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army completing his 2-year service from 1974 to 1976. Steve was proud of his military service. He began attending the University of Akron, completing his 2-year degree in Engineering Technology. He retired from the City of Akron Water Department in 2011.

Steve was a man who touched many lives through his outgoing personality and was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Famous to his friends for his fishing expertise, everyone enjoyed the largesse of the many fishing trips he made. No one who tasted his special smoked salmon/steelhead trout dip could forget it. "When are you making more?" Family and friends couldn't wait for his fish fry with blue gill, walleye and perch.

He enjoyed organizing class reunions and get-togethers for classmates, bringing them back to events to share old memories and create new ones.

A jack of all trades, he was an avid gardener, cook, all around handy man. He made himself available to talk to many, many friends daily. Steve loved to sit outside on his glider and watch the deer wandering through the yard while eating apples from his apple trees. He also loved to feed the birds and watch them fly in daily to eat the many goodies he left for them in the bird feeders. His special buddies, Cleo and Max, will also miss him dearly.

Preceded in death by parents Eva (Riesbeck) and Wendell Nuspl, brother Bernhard. Steve leaves to mourn his passing, his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Patricia, son Christopher, daughter Hallie (Durwin), granddaughters Aiyana and Delilah, who were his 'favorite girls in the world'. As well as his nieces, nephews, and many, many friends who loved and cherished his presence in their lives. He was the most kind, generous, selfless and loving person to all he knew and loved.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 4 to 6pm at the Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St, in Akron, where a funeral service will be held at 6pm.
