Soterios Stanley Tsoflias, 96, died unexpectedly on August 29, 2023, in Akron, Ohio.
Sotiri was born in Agios Georgios Sikousis, Xios, Greece on August 25, 1927 to the late Savvas and Kaliopi Tsoflias. Sotiri came to the US in January of 1947. Both a US and Greek citizen at birth, Sotiri served his country as a combat veteran in the US Army during the Korean War, receiving two Purple Hearts, Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Service Stars, and Combat Infantry Badge. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from The Ohio State University and his Masters Degree in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Akron. Sotiri worked as a research and development Chemist for various companies, retiring in 1996 from Loctite. He was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, serving on the church board.
In addition to his parents, Sotiri was preceded in death by his siblings Pantelis & Theodora. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Angeliki; his loving family Kaliopi, Savvas, Lemonia, Soterios, Cecilia, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 3, from 4:30-8 pm at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Akron, OH, where a Trisagion Service took place at 7:30 pm.
The 40 day Memorial Service will take place on Oct 8, 2023, approximatley 10:30 AM, after the Sunday Divine Liturgy, at 9:30 AM, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S. Union St., Akron, OH.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20, at 11:00 am at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street, NW Washington, D.C., where Sotiri will lie in state from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at 2:00 pm.
