Smiljana (Blanusa) Katanic

Smiljana Katanic, 79, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 10, 2022 in Akron.
She is survived by her son Milovan (Tatiana); daughter Milica (Djordje) Bozickovic; grandchildren Vasilije, Lazar, Nikolina, Jelena, Jovana, Milica, & Ilija Katanic, & Nikola & Zora Bozickovic; sisters Mira Alavanja & Maria Bourgeois; brother-in-law Slobodan (Mira) Katanic & Nikola Rnjak; sister-in-law Mara Katanic & Nevenka Blanusa; and many other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband Zdravko; parents Nikola & Milica Blanusa; brother Ljube Blanusa; sister Ljubinka Rnjak; brothers-in-law Stanimir (Kata), Dusan; and sisters-in-law Ljubica (Aleksandar) & Katica (Negovan).
Smiljana was born in Benkovac, Jugoslavia and came to America in 1979. She was active member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox church, and she enjoyed all her friends and going to various church events. Smiljana loved to read, garden, and do crosswords.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 22 at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, 2552 Pickle Rd, Akron, OH 44312, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10AM. Burial at Copley Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church for the completion of the frescoes.
