Shirley Boldin, 75, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024.
Shirley was born and raised in East Cleveland and was a 1966 graduate at Shaw High School. She married, moved to Canton to raise her two sons, and helped run the family Putt-Putt business. After her sons had grown, she graduated from the University of Akron and worked for the Summit County Board of Developmental Disabilities until retirement. Shirley's passion for working for people with disabilities carried on long after her retirement; she spent nearly two decades volunteering for different organizations, including the Children's Miracle Network and Beyond Our Boundaries, among many others. Her zest for life was endless leading her to travel all over the world, filling up her passport with many stamps. Most of all, Shirley loved and supported her two grandsons, rarely missing a sporting event even if she didn't understand what was going on in the game.
Shirley is survived by her sons Bill (Laurie) and Bob (Michelle); grandsons Colin and Josh; brother Bob Alvarez; and sister Janice Hershberger. She was preceded in death by her parents Patricia & Robert Alvarez; and brother Rick Alvarez.
