Ruth Mae Uhalley

April 27, 1934 — May 1, 2021

Ruth Mae Uhalley, 87,passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at her home.

Ruth was born April 27, 1934 to the late Carl and Verna (Cummings) Stover in Akron and had been an Akron resident her entire life. She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband John R. Uhalley, daughter Kathy O'Neil and sisters June Lischak and Phyllis Kolbas. She is survived by her children Diane Uhalley, John Uhalley, Lori Uhalley; son-in-law Kell O'Neil; grandchildren Michael O'Neil, Brian O'Neil, Aly (Steven) Boothe and Jake Uhalley; sisters Alice (Art) Brakus and Nancy Reagan.

Ruthie had a heart of gold. She was the friend you were lucky to have, the sister you turn to, and the mother everyone wanted.

In her younger years, she was worked at Yankee Lines with her sisters, dancing at Jednota Club, door to door for the Cancer Society, driving the nuns from St. John's. Whoever needed her, she was there. She loved the neighborhood kids and cousins. She laughed with them, played cards with them, always making sure they were okay. They would come up to us and say we wish she was our Mom or she's my second Mom. We were so lucky she was ours. Her biggest joy was her family, friends, and cooking. She loved cooking every Sunday for her family and neighbors who became family. Her Christmas dinner for 30 relatives. So much love and laughter gave her joy. Monday lunches with her friend and sisters, many who are now with her. Sadly she left behind her two sisters she adored. So proud of her grandchildren at every game, grandparents day she was always there for them. Kell called her The Legend (her favorite son-in-law).
So ill, she was still fixing her hair for us. She was so brave refusing hospice and pain medicine so she can spend every moment with us. We know you're happy and free with Dad and Kathy. We will miss our Sundays together and every day after.

Thank you to neighbors Ed Miller, Janet (Tom) Carney, Jane Helmkee, all of your help and memories. Son-in-law, Kell, always being there for Mom and us
