Russell Gene Welch

Russell G. Welch, 84, passed away on November 16, 2023.
Russ was born on September 10, 1939 in Shakopee, MN to the late Russell & Harriet Welch. He was a 1958 graduate of Garfield High School and served his country as a member of the US Navy from 1959-1963. Russ worked in the vending industry as a mechanic for over 40 years. He volunteered for many years as the equipment manager for the Firestone Park Pee-Wee Rams. Russ was an avid bowler, woodworker, and fisherman.
In addition to his parents Russ was preceded in death by his wife Sandra and his great-granddaughter Eleanor Marie Elsass. He is survived by his children Chris (Frank) Tilenni, Susan Welch, Stephen Welch, Dave (Cris) Welch; brother Terry Deusterman; grandchildren Michael (Shanel) Tilenni, David (Savanah) Welch, Melissa (Keith) Elsass, Cameron (Sierra) Welch; great-grandchildren Jackson, Leighton, Juniper, Henry, & Dawson.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, November 27, at 1:00 pm, with family receiving friends beginning at 12 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Interment with military honors will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
