Rudie Michael Pozonitz

Rudie Michael Pozonitz, 81, went home peacefully on November 18, 2020, joining his wife Opal on what would have been their 59th wedding anniversary. Dad was surrounded by his loving family and was in the thoughts and prayers of many who loved him.
Dad was an avid golfer. He loved playing and working bingo and walking at Summit Mall everyday, except Sunday, when he attended mass at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was a previous member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he ran bingo for many years. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Sullivan and was a proud member of the Copley VFW Post 7971 and the American Legion. Rudie retired from Conrail Railroad as an engineer in 2001, with 37 years of service.
Rudie was preceded in death by his wife Opal in 2010. He is survived by his daughters Robin (Dennis) Keeling & Rosemary Pozonitz; grandchildren Shana & Tristan Keeling and Rachael Aleshire; sister Rosemarie 'Toots' (Frank) Monago, Sr. and brother Michael 'Mickey' (Rosie) Pozonitz; sister-in-law Carol Sprouse and his aunt Marie Bernert, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, November 23, at 1:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm. Social distancing and mask wearing will be enforced. The funeral will be live streamed at the Anthony Funeral Homes Facebook page. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
