Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosemary Murphy, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who departed this world on July 29, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 17, 1947, at Akron, Ohio, Rosemary touched the lives of many throughout her journey.

She spent her career as a dedicated legal assistant at Buckingham Doolittle & Burroughs, where her hard work and devotion were well recognized. Rosemary was known for her warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering support for her family and friends.

Rosemary is survived by her cherished sister Kathy Filipowicz, and cherished niece Tammy Filipowicz, great-niece, Chelsea Filipowicz, good longtime friend Evelyn L., her daughter, Heather (Rob) Murphy-Gates, and her adored granddaughter, Colleen Gates, loving brother, Michael (Brenda) Zemla, sister, in-law, Debbie Zemla. In addition, she is survived by nieces Tara Woody, great-niece, Molly Woody, nephews Jason and Josh Zemla, Shawn and Jamie Filipowicz, as well as additional great-nephews who will continue her legacy of kindness and compassion.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Michael J. and Katherin (nee: Kohler) Zemla, one brother Robert Zemla, and her son Timothy Murphy.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Holy Cross Cemetery 100 East Waterloo Rd, Akron, OH ,on Monday August 4, 2025 at 10:30 am, where a committal service will be held for both Rosemary and her son Tim with Pastor Steve Jenkins presiding, where they will be laid to rest next to her parents , in a serene setting that reflects her peaceful spirit and love of creation.

As we remember Rosemary Murphy, let us carry forward her legacy of love and generosity, cherishing the memories we hold dear. She will be missed dearly but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Those wishing to send flowers please send them to the Dunn Quigley funeral home 811 Grant St., Akron Oh to arrive by 9:00 am ahead of the committal service. Those wishing to donate in Rosemary's memory are encouraged to make donations to the American Breast Cancer Society for research.
