Obituary

Ronald Steven Harper, 63, passed away on July 24, 2020 at Akron City Hospital. An Akron native, Ron was the son of the late Ronald Ross Harper and Donna Lynn Harper (Gardner) A graduate of the Police Academy, he served 25 years as a Dispatcher for the Stow Police Department. As well as a Captain of the Stow Police Reserves. After his retirement he moved to Merrritt Island, Florida where he was able to pursue his many interests including collecting model cars, baking, wowing the neighborhood with unforgettable Christmas displays, and volunteering at the Gillespie Group Home. A loving father (and one time "Cheer Dad") & husband; he is survived by his wife, Dona J. Harper; daughters, Sarah (Ben) Harper (Mother Kathy Hines), Paige (Quinton) Harper-Gobey; and sons Ronald Ross Harper II and Brandon Harper. He also leaves siblings, Brenda Harper, Dave (Pam) Gillespie, Terry (and the late Linda) Gillespie, Larry (India) Harper and Jeffrey Harper. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91). Please wear masks and observe social distancing.
