Ronald Edward Smith

Ronald E. Smith, 62, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at his home.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents John & Betty Miller; grandson Kyle Smith; and Aunt Marie Chapman. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gail; children Ronald Michael, Eric (Elizabeth), & Amanda (Henry) Duncan; sister Jodi (Tom) Orihel; grandchildren Matthew, Alex, Ellie, Savannah, Emma, Eva, Evan, Brittney & Nick; and several nieces & nephews.
Ron worked for Acme Markets for over 40 years. He was a member of Calvary Temple and he was a leader with Project P.A2.N.D.A and the Summit County Teen Institute. Ron also played trumpet for the Goodyear Concert Band.
Thank you to CrossRoads Hospice for their compassionate care in Ron's last days; and to his aid Jeff Jones for his care during his long illness.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Friday, March 16 at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron, where the family will receive friends beginning at 11:00AM. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or alz.org.
