Rollin 'Ron' Davis, 86, went home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2021.
Ron was born in Akron to the late James & Margaret Davis and was a 1954 graduate of Kenmore High School. He completed a course from the New York Mergenthaler Linotype School in 1961 and was certified in service and repair of all types of linecasting machinery, working in the industry for most of his working life. In 1968 he obtained an Associates Degree in sales and merchandising from the University of Akron. Ron attended the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied accordion for ten years under nationally recognized instructor, J.H. Sheldon.
He was a longtime member of Firestone Park Christian Church, where he served as an elder, a trustee, and was a member of the choir. Ron was an avid musician and was a member of the Ron Davis Dance Band and True Tones.
He was a dedicated bicyclist and was a member of the Akron Cycling Club for many years.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his grandma and grandpa Davis, who raised him until the age of 13. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Joanne and his step-nephew Diggy East, as well as a host of in-laws and other extended family members.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 20, at 12:00 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends beginning at 11 am until the time of the service. Pastor Rich Ferris will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron's memory to Firestone Park Christian Church 40 E. Wilbeth Rd. Akron, OH 44301.
