Robert Lee Burse, 77, passed away April 14, 2025.
Robert was born August 28, 1947 in Akron to William and Hazel Burse. He graduated from Copley High School. Robert co-owned Ohio Mechanical Handling Company with his brother William "Bud." He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Robert was a member of many clubs, including the VFW, American Legion, Hibernians, Army Navy, and the Model A club to name a few. Robert loved Disney, cooking, vacationing especially cruises, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends. He was also a pilot.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Cathy. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Harold, Rick, and Jack. He is survived by his children Laura (Mike) Valentine, Michele Crumrine, and Dawn (Brian) Sawyer; grandchildren Jessica (Chris) Chamberlain, Mike (Katelyn) Valentine, Chris Valentine, Robert Moore, Sara (Teashawn) Bell, and London Strickland; great-grandchildren Archer, Michael, and Kinsley; brother William "Bud" (Diana) Burse. Robert was also a beloved member of his extended in-law family.
Burial with military honors will take place Thursday, April 24 at 2:45pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Procession will leave from Anthony Funeral Homes, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron at 1:45pm. Please arrive at the funeral home by 1:30pm. A celebration of Robert's life will follow at the Hibernians Club, 2000 Brown St. Akron 44319.
