Richard A. Zito, 75, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, after a brief but brave battle with cancer at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Akron and retired from Ohio Edison in 2009. Rick was active in his union where he served as the President of UWUA Local 126 for thirty years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Rick enjoyed breakfast with his friends, spending time with his family, boating, traveling, shopping and working out at the Nat.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lola (Petri) Zito; and his wife of fifty two years, Colleen R. Zito. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Gary) Reece; sons, Ryan (Susan) Zito and Craig (Colleen) Zito; companion, Rita Flinn; brother, Jerry (Lois) Zito; sister-in-law, Rebecca (John) Sicarz; grandchildren, Toni, Zack, Jacob, Sam, Cole, Jonah, Nick, Luca and Christian; and great-grandchildren, Miya and Kamryn.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Visitation on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
