Richard Simon

Richard Simon, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018.
Born in Cleveland on April 24, 1930 to the late George & Mary Simon, Richard was a lifelong area resident. He served as an altar boy at St. George Orthodox Church, in both Cleveland & Akron, where his father was the priest. Richard continued to be very active at St. George, participating in the men's group and attending service every Sunday. He enjoyed playing golf as often as he could.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anna, and 7 brothers & sisters. He is survived by his daughters Cheryl Molnar & Cathy (Rick) Hager; grandchildren Sarah & Rachel Molnar and Amanda & Alaina Hager; and dear friend Bob Jones & "adopted son" Ron Shannon.
Thank you to the nurses and staff with Summa Hospice for their compassionate care during Richard's last days.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 1 from 3-5PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10AM at the funeral home, Rev. Fr. John Alassaf officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the family or the church.
