Richard A. Curt, Sr., 87, passed away October 21, 2022.
Rich was a lifelong resident of Akron and was a 1953 graduate of Garfield High School. Lettering in multiple sports, Rich was an accomplished athlete and especially enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball, retiring from the sport with a home run at the age of 40. In his fifties, he began running 30 miles a week and until he passed, he continued to exercise, work out, and lift weights. He tried to always have a positive attitude toward life and always had a smile for everyone he met. Rich was a friend to everyone. He was a civil war historian and had a great memory for detail. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Guardians, Cavs, and Browns, especially on Sundays with his family. He loved a good dessert. 'Is there ever a bad dessert?'
Rich was the vice-president of J & R Properties and vice-president of the Akron Local Steelworkers, shrewdly negotiating to secure retiree benefits.
In 1958, he married the love of his life Elizabeth 'Betty' Armocida, whom he was married to for 60 years, before her death in 2018.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory children Richard Curt, Jr., Terrie (Christopher) Pfeil & David (Stephanie) Curt; his beloved grandchildren Zachary, Mackenzie (Danielle) & Jacqueline Rose (Rob) Pfeil and Angela Marie Curt, as well as numerous friends, cousins, and nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 28, from 5-8 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a funeral will take place on Saturday, October 29, at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. (Anthony, AKRON, www.anthonyfh.com)
