Richard "Bud" Crawley, age 99, of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully after a long and blessed life on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was born March 30, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to Sam Crawley and Lillian (Tweedy) Crawley.

He graduated early from Garfield High School in 1945 to join the U.S. Navy. He entered bootcamp on VE Day and was stationed in Memphis, TN as a baker during WWII. Bud married his high school sweetheart, LaVonne Reed, and was married to her for 68 years until her passing in 2013.

He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite order, member of the Mt. Akra Lodge 680, Tadmor Temple, and Barberton Shrine Club. In younger years, he was active in the Portage Lakes AARP, South Akron Lions, and the American Legion.

Bud loved to play golf, playing in the same league for over 55 years. He was in a bowling league for just about as long. In his youth, he played basketball and baseball. As a child, he was the neighborhood champion in marbles and yoyo.

Bud and LaVonne loved to travel. Twice they traveled with family and friends, criss-crossing the United States in a station wagon pulling a travel trailer for weeks on end. They went to England and parts of Europe, proudly stopping in "Crawley, England." They enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach, staying in the same condo for over 60 years. The family spent every summer boating at either Berlin Lake, Deep Creek Maryland, or Salt Fork State Park. The thing he loved the most was spending any kind of time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne; daughter, Jan Sidle; son, Richard Crawley; son-in-laws, Bernie Thomas and Fred Luecke; grandsons, Bernie and Sean Thomas; granddaughter, Lisa Thomas; and great-granddaughter, Sloane Harris.
