Richard B. Casto, 95, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2023 after a brief illness.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 71 years, Marion, along with 4 sons (Rick, Jeff and Greg from the Akron area and Steve from Bradenton, Florida), 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a host of relatives and lifetime friends.
Dick proudly served in the US Marines during the Korean war and returned home to raise a family in Cuyahoga Falls where he lived the remainder of his life. He worked many long, back-breaking years installing carpet before working in the water department for the City of Cuyahoga Falls, retiring in 1990 enjoying years of traveling, golfing, fishing and dining out. His greatest love was his family. He and Marion instilled in their sons enduring values of education, hard work, integrity and a love of family. He loved to laugh, often at his own jokes, which entertained many. As he approaches the pearly gates on his final journey, we can almost hear him greet St. Peter with his opening line- "Did you hear the one about..." Here's to a life well lived and a lifetime of memories for his family to cherish forever.
Calling hours will be Saturday, July 29 at noon with a service immediately following at 1pm at Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S Main St in Akron. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donation to a charity of your choice.
