Raymond David Johns

Raymond David Johns, 101, peacefully passed away September 27, 2026.

Ray was born in Akron on August 9, 1925 to the late Owen and Lily Johns nee Barrett. He attended Central Hower High School and then graduated from Kent State University after his service in the Army in WWII. Ray worked as a rate analyst for ECMCA where he retired in 1985. After his retirement, he enjoyed going to the Natatorium 5 days a week, playing Silver League softball, traveling to Africa when he was 93, and volunteering at Western Reserve Hospital in the mail room. Ray never met a stranger. He lived an extraordinary life and was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Deborah Johns; daughter Kristine Hill; and brother Leonard Johns. Ray is survived by his daughters Kathy Martin, Karen (Ron) Drungil, Karla Depaoli, Kim (Bob) Martin; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends. He also had many special friends who he worked out with at the Nat.

A celebration of Ray's life will take place Friday, October 2 at Anthony Funeral Home - Falls Chapel, 247 Stow Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. There will be no formal service. The family invites you to come together to remember Ray and celebrate his amazing life.
