Raymond E. Gent, 83, passed away on January 28, 2025.
Ray was born in Youngstown, OH on September 27, 1941 to the late Thomas & Edith Gent and had lived in the Akron area for nearly 60 years. Ray served his country as a Corpsmen for the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. Following his service in the Navy, Ray worked as an Akron Police Officer, retiring as a detective in 1994 and continuing as a reserve for another 10 years. Ray was a member of the FOP Akron Lodge #7. He was an avid outdoorsmen. Ray loved to fish and hunt and was an award winning trap shooter. He especially enjoyed his annual pheasant hunts in South Dakota.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife Judith; he is survived by his sons Kristopher (Kristina) Gent & Daniel (Wanda) Csaky and daughters Angela (Ted) Younessi & Shannon MarLett; grandchildren Alaina, Riley, Brian, Leah, Brennan, Evan, Jenna, Adam, & Joshua, along with numerous great-grandchildren; sister Barbara (Fred) Mondok.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, 11 am to 1 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
