Ray was taken by our Creator on March 14, 2025 at the age of 86 years. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 8, 1938, and had one sister, Sally Yockey.
He served his country on active duty in the U.S. Army from December 10,1956 - December 9, 1959, and then the reserves until June 11, 1963. He spent his career in durable medical sales.
Ray met the love of his life, Judy, and they were married on October 20, 1962. They enjoyed 62 years of a loving marriage. Their days always included plenty of laughter. They enjoyed traveling and exploring new places together. They found so much joy in just being together. Ray was so proud of Judy and very supportive of her career in nursing. He told everyone that she was the smartest person he knew. Ray was an amazing cook. He and Judy would hold the best social gatherings. Whether it was a small or large affair, everyone had a wonderful time.
Ray and Judy have two children, Rae Ann and Dave. Ray was a significant influence on Rae Ann deciding to enter the U.S. Navy making it a career. He enjoyed visiting Rae Ann during her non-deployed military service in places such as Andros Island, Bahamas and Key West, Florida where they would enjoy deep sea fishing together. Ray and Dave enjoyed playing golf together. He was Dave's golf teacher and helped Dave fine tune his abilities to earn a golf scholarship to the University of Akron. He also passed along his love and talent for cooking to Dave. The two of them just enjoyed being together.
When it came to his grandsons, he was lovingly known as "Pops". His grandsons, Drew and Jackson were the light of his life. He was so proud of both men and their accomplishments.
He enjoyed golfing whether it be with a group of friends or with his son. He would frequently take a break from his game and come to the house, which is on the course, to retrieve cold adult beverages. In his spare time, he taught himself how to wood work and it became his passion. He became a Master Wood Turner enjoying creating his "one of kind" cutting boards or bowls. Ray was quick witted, funny, and had a charismatic personality. Everyone who met him would say what an amazing man he was.
Those who knew him would hear "Keep the Faith" whenever it was time to leave his company. It was his trademark phrase and one that we will hold dear in our hearts forever.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation and gratitude to GreenView Senior Assisted Living in Uniontown, Ohio. GreenView became Ray's home away from home in April of 2024. The staff and facility are top quality and have shown so much care and love for Ray and his family. We cannot thank them enough for their daily care of Ray.
