Ralph Francis Miller

June 12, 1942 — September 23, 2025

Ralph Francis Miller, 83, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on September 23, 2025. He was born June 12, 1942 in Akron to the late Paul F. and Lois J. (Wingerter) Miller.

Growing up in the North Hill area, Ralph attended Findley, Jennings, and Hower Vocational High School graduating in 1961. He married his love of 60 years, Mary (Ralston) Miller in 1964. He worked in retail, water sanitation, and as a maintenance technician for DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee. He attended the National Institute of Technology in Cuyahoga Falls.

Ralph was dedicated to family, sharing his talents as a baseball coach for his sons, an enthusiastic grandpa for his three grandchildren, a mentor to his nephews and nieces. He shared his passions for a good game of cards, the outdoors, hunting and fishing, finding arrowheads and flint tools, and reading Louis L'Amour books. He began wood carving as a hobby and later progressed to "chip" carving. He carved countless boxes from old cigar boxes for family and friends using artful designs and personalizing them with the names of those receiving his gifts. He loved horses beginning with his childhood pony Ginger and finally his horse Cinnamon. At one time he was active in the Smokey Mountain Shootist Society. He enjoyed supporting and selling programs for the Tennessee Vols for many years along with his son and grandson.

Ralph is survived by his sons Kevin Miller (Tabitha) and Patrick Miller (Stacey); his grandchildren, Caroline, Kaeden, and Claire.; his sisters Judy Volk (widow of John), Jenny Kramer (Dick), and Janice Patterson (Jim); sisters-in-law Debbie Singleton (Wes) and Kim Herring (Danny), many nieces and nephews, Miller and Wingerter cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, parents Paul and Lois Miller and daughter-in-law Nikki (Smith) Miller.
