Phillip David Cargill

Phillip D. 'Dave' Cargill, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on February 28, 2024.
Dave was born on October 20, 1937 in Akron, Ohio. He worked most of his adult life as an auto mechanic and retired from the City of Akron after 15 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed auto racing and built and raced his own cars. As his sons Tim & Tony were growing up, Dave's interests shifted to supporting them in their sports and school activities. His other hobbies included woodworking and building things for family and friends.
Dave was married to his first wife Judy for 47 years, before her passing in 2007. A couple of years later, he met and married Barbara 'Jean' Cargill, his wife for the past 14 years.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Lynn & Jane Cargill; brothers Tim & Kit; sister Nonnie. He is survived by his wife Jean; sons Tim (Tiffany) & Tony (Margaret); step-children Paula (Rick), Debbie (Tim), & Pam (Mike); grandson Nate and great-grandson Nathanael; granddaughter Katie; step-grandchildren David (Samantha), Daniel (Nathan); step-great-grandchildren Eileen & Tommy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his little fur baby Khloe.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 3, from 2-4 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls. A private interment will take place at Chestnut Hill Memorial Gardens.
