Paul Vincent Shiplett

Paul Vincent Shiplett, 87, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Portage Lakes/St. Luke Nursing Home.

Paul was born July 30, 1939, in Somerset, Ohio to Homer and Kathryn Shiplett in Somerset, OH and had been an Akron resident since 1942. He was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary High School and served in the US Navy as a 3rd Class Engineering Petty Officer, 1958-1962.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve, and son, Paul Shiplett II.

He retired from Akron Public Schools and retired as a Business Agent and International Vice President for the National Conference of Firemen and Oilers NCFO/SEIU. He served as Summit County United Way co-chair 1998-1989.

He was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Firestone VFW, St. Mary Holy Name Society and Sons of Herman, Lodge #10, his favorite hangout.

There are no calling hours or services. Private interment has taken place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. (Anthony/Dunn -Quigley 330-724-1281)
