Paul Joseph Borer

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Paul Joseph Borer, an amazing husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who passed away on July 28th,2026.

Paul was born on July 7th, 1954 in Springville, NY to Gertrude and Arnold Borer and was raised on his family farm, Edelweiss Dairy Farm in Freedom, NY. He earned a Masters degree in Business and Public Health but eventually studied to become a registered dietician. He especially loved working with the developmentally disabled in group home settings.

Throughout Paul's adult life he was an avid reader of books about his Catholic faith and was always looking for ways to serve others, as it gave him great joy. His favorite activity as a young adult was playing with his many nieces and nephews, and later playing with his eight grandchildren who loved him dearly.

Paul was selfless, humble, and kind to everyone. He would always stop to talk, never in a hurry. His strong faith has touched so many lives. Paul looked forward to the day the Lord would hug him and say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Surviving are his loving wife, Vicki Borer, two stepdaughters, Corinne (Nicholas) Ashpole of Wilmington, NC, and Morgan (Randy) Matthews of Wadsworth, OH, five sisters, Mary Ann Mallery, Mary Agnes Wykstra, Dr. Mary Margaret Perez, Mary Catherine (Ted) Wright, and Mary Suzanne (Bob Cushing) Borer; six brothers, Cyril (Nancy) Borer, Thomas (Julie Grover) Borer, James (Lucille) Borer, John Borer, Dr. Joseph (Kimberly) Borer; eight grandchildren, Brantley, Tucker, Karsyn, Ryan, Parker, Wesley, Everett, and Saylor, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold in 1989; his mother, Gertrude, in 2013 and his brother, Frank (survived by his wife, Patti) in 2014.

Paul's gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and quiet acts of kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at 11am on August 5th at St. Francis de Sales Church in Akron, OH. Paul will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery, also in Akron OH, following the funeral.
