Patrick Edward Taylor Sr. (1950-2024)

Akron born Blues Musician and Proud Irish-American Patrick "Paddy" Taylor has passed away

peacefully on February 20th 2024 at the age of 73.

Paddy was born in Akron, OH on November 5th 1950 to Floyd and Marilyn Taylor. A Wildcat

Graduate of Central High School in Akron in 1968, he went on to play music with The Business

Blues Band, Fergie and the Bog Dogs, the Akron Ceili Band, and the Deep South Akron All

Stars while working at various jobs in construction and retail sales. Known as Paddy in the Irish

American Community and long time member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Akron, he

formed the Akron Celtic Guards Hurling and Camogie Club in 2003 and could be found proudly

sporting a Cork GAA Jersey at any event.

Paddy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas, sister Lorene, and grandchild

Reed. He is survived by his wife Deborah of 39 years, his children Ann (Kevin) Verde, Alyssa

Taylor, Tara (Todd) Compher, and Patrick (Coleen) Taylor, and his grandchildren Aidan, Ben,

Grace, Rory, Dylan, and Maddox. He is also survived by his brothers Lawrence, Michael, and

Paul, and his many friends that he has made along the way.

We love you, Dad. Give 'em the blizzard!

The Family would like to thank University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and the Acute

Palliative Care Unit at Summa Hospital in Akron for their compassionate care throughout Dad's

battle and providing comfort in his final days. Also, many thanks to Fr. Chris and the other

many priests, deacons, and prayers that comforted Dad in his time of need.

In lieu of flowers, it would be Dad's wishes to support live music - go see a show, concert,

musical, or anything else that supports live music and the arts.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, February 27th 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dunn-Quigley Funeral

A Catholic Mass will be held Wednesday, February 28th 10:00 AM at St. Bernard's Church at

44 University Ave Akron, OH 44308 immediately followed by a traditional Irish Wake and

session at the Ancient Order of Hibernians 2000 Brown St. Akron, OH 44319.
