Olga Henkel

Olga Henkel, 93, passed away on September 21, 2026, at Arden Courts Memory Care Home in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

Born in Akron, Ohio, on January 18, 1933, to the late Steve and Mary Roberts, Olga was a longtime resident of Akron and spent the last 15 years of her life living with her family in Hunting Valley, Ohio. She graduated from East High School in Akron in 1951 and worked at Service Iron and Steel Company as an administrative assistant.

Olga was an active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Mogadore and enjoyed spending time with her fellow parishioners and friends while helping with the church's fish fries and bazaars. Olga was a vibrant, witty, strong, and kind woman who adored her family and especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Olga is survived by her daughter, Michele (Craig) Bashein; grandchildren, Alec (Gwen), Lauren, and Kyle; great-grandchildren, William and Baby Bashein; and more than a dozen nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Olga was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her brothers, Ted Roberts and William Roberts; and her sisters, Martha Roberts, Patrina Kepenash, and Tillie Merrell.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St., Akron, where a Panachida service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 755 S. Cleveland Ave., Mogadore, OH 44260, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
