Olga (Kostelny) Guzy, 97, of Akron, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026 at The Inn at Apple Ridge in Richfield, Ohio, where she had resided the last two years.

Born July 20, 1928, in Lorain, Ohio, Olga graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1946 B. She worked at the S. Weitz Co. factory in Lorain as a garment worker before marrying her husband, Emil, and moving to Akron in 1959.

She was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Mogadore, where she was a dedicated volunteer, helping launch the long popular Something Russian Festival. She also supported the church by making piroghis, breads and pastries, and working fish fries for many years.

In Lorain, she belonged to SS. Peter & Paul Carpatho Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, where her father was a founding member and choir director. She sang in the choir and was an active member of the FROC, a national organization for young Orthodox Christians. She was editor of The Herald, the FROC's Ohio publication, writing a funny, gossipy column called, "The Seeing Oko by the Gamba" (The Seeing Eye by the Mouth).

She was an accomplished seamstress and crocheter, and crafted beautiful Russian Easter eggs. She also enjoyed cooking, singing, working puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. Olga's gift for storytelling, love of laughter and quick wit drew people to her, from teenagers to centenarians. There was nothing funnier than listening to Olga and her siblings share old stories. She was a bright light and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her sister, Natalie Ceja (Tony, deceased) of Lorain; niece, Donae Ceja (William Fairweather) of Akron; nephews Aaron "Tony" Ceja (Cherie) of Lorain, and Christopher Ceja (Kimberly) of LaGrange; a grandnephew, Aaron Ceja of Athens, Ohio; grandnieces Ashley Speidel (Zachary) of Lorain and Joella Dunn-Bernstein (Robby) of Los Angeles; and great-nephews Lincoln, River and Ronan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; her brother, Emil Kostelny; and her parents, Efrozina (Humetsky) and Emilian Kostelny.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Inn at Apple Ridge and Elara Caring.
