Norma Jean (Norgie) Robinson, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026. Norgie was born in Akron, Ohio on November 17, 1935 to the late Floyd Gerald and Ada Irene (Myers) Thornberry. She graduated from Kenmore High School in 1953 and proudly represented the school for two years as the head majorette, and was the homecoming queen in her senior year. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1958 from the University of Akron where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was a teacher for the Akron Public School District and taught at Highland Park and Guinther Elementary Schools for several years.
On December 22, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, David Robinson. Shortly thereafter, they settled down for a lifetime in a new home in Coventry Township. They shared a happy and wonderful life together for 66 years. Norgie's commitment to her marriage has served as an inspiration for love and loyalty to generations of her family.
She was a devoted and supportive daughter to her parents, wife to her husband, mother to her two children and grandmother to her four grandsons. After becoming a mother, Norgie took on the traditional full time wife and mother roles. She selflessly sacrificed for her family, putting them before all else and created a loving, nurturing home. She was the ultimate caregiver and indispensable force in the home.
Norgie especially loved spending time with her grandsons. She enjoyed watching all her grandsons participate in sporting events, achieve academic and professional success, and mature into impressive and responsible young adults.
Norgie found great joy in gardening, tending to her flower beds, and keeping her lawn nicely manicured. She was also a tremendous cook and outstanding host. Along with her husband, Norgie enjoyed hosting the extended family Christmas party on Christmas Eve for nearly 50 years. There was always plenty to eat, a festive environment, a visit from Santa, and an opportunity to catch up with all the family members.
Norma and David also liked to travel in their retirement years. Although there were many trips and destinations, they found Oglebay Park and Colonial Williamsburg particularly enjoyable as a couple or with family members.
In addition to her parents, Norgie was preceded in death by her husband David. She is survived by sons, David (Lisa) Robinson and Gerald Robinson; grandsons Jeremy (Taylor), Ryan (Madison), Jonathan (Lindsay), David Tyler (Hannah) Robinson; great grandchildren Erika and Emmett Robinson; and several nephews and their families.
A private funeral service for the family was previously held at Anthony Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
