Nellie Rose Mandi

July 1, 1924 — March 29, 2021

Nellie Rose Mandi nee Horvath, 96, passed away peacefully Monday, March 29, 2021.
Nellie was the youngest of four children born to George and Agnes (Rozsa) Horvath. She was a graduate of Central High School. On August 4, 1945, she married the love of her life, Louis (Louie), bought a house in Cuyahoga Falls and lived there for 56 years until his death. Besides being a loving wife and mother, she worked at various places such as Quaker Oats; Persky's; and at the State of Ohio Dept. of Health, briefly as the administrator, until her retirement.
Nellie and Louie enjoyed traveling. They took the family out west; went to Hawaii, Mexico, Bahamas and on cruises with friends; and became snowbirds going to Florida in the winters. She loved to crochet and knit. Nellie was an active member in the Hungarian American Club in Akron, devoting much time to preparing food for the different events and enjoying the music and dancing. She also belonged to the German American and the Polish American Clubs. Everyone knew Nellie's favorite pastime- CARDS! She loved playing euchre but not nearly as much as poker. Later in life she taught herself the computer and was pretty good using it too!
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Goldie Deckon, Frank Horvath, and recently Annie Malivuk. Nellie is survived by her children Bob (Kathie), Cindy, Kathi; grandchildren Joe (Rachel), Megan (Jimmy) Lee, Kristen Mandi (Karl Blaurock); great-grandchildren Ethan and Owen Mandi; adopted daughter Gail; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Hospice for their loving care of our beloved Nellie and the time they took to go above and beyond when doting on her, especially Janet who always took the time and effort to make Mom feel special.
