Nancy Marie (Anderson) Yoho

July 1, 1931 — January 23, 2024

We said goodbye to this wonderful woman, January 23, 2024 After 92 years, God called Nancy Yoho home, on the 4th anniversary of her sister (and best friend) Shirley's death. Nancy was born to Swedish immigrants in Akron. She became an RN, and she was passionate about her nursing career. She and Ransel raised four sons and were married more than 60 years when he passed. She leaves a legacy of 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Over the past 20 years, she battled dementia, though she fought hard for as much independence as she could have, never accepting limitations. Her pronouncement that she would get a bike to go places when she had to stop driving (in her late 80s) provided much needed amusement! She loved her church, Bethany Lutheran, and she and Grandpa served the community around it in Akron for decades. She sang in the choir, even recruiting some of her grandkids to join her in singing in Swedish, sometimes! She loved swimming in her pool, and she blared talk radio or the TV as she enjoyed her home in Springfield Township for many years. She was THE Crazy Cat Lady. So many cats were residents of her home over the years. Her favorite cats were not always the most affectionate or likable, but she ADORED them. Charlie Brown, a very long-lived stripey cat, Dudley, a mean Siamese with a half-mustache, and the one she leaves behind, Racky, a ragdoll with a slightly sour disposition. When I brought her home from Grandpa's funeral, she walked right up to Racky and said, "Racky Yoho, you're my husband, now." Thankfully, today, she was reunited with her actual husband, free from the disease that riddled her mind, celebrating with her wonderful, risen Savior.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ransel, in 2015; sisters Shirley Ann Adamson & Margaret Jean Alexander. She is survived by her sons David (Julie), Daniel (Kay), Ransel (Becky), & Patrick (Laura) Yoho. Grandchildren Matthew, Melinda (Brandon) Schaber, Dr. Daniel J. (Krista), Mike (Melissa), Lauren (Spiro), Megan (Dave) Miller, Will, Katie, Jon (Mallory), & Rachel (Chad) Wagner; great-grandchildren Devin, Willow, Joy, Archer, Meadow, Hope, Naomi, Ruth, Sigvard, Otis, Caspian, Cole, Emma, Kennedy, & one on the way. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 30, from 5-7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls (at 3rd St., one block north at Portage Trail). A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 11:00 am at the Anthony Funeral AKRON CHAPEL, 1990 S Main St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Mark Lutheran Church of Tallmadge 158 North Ave, Tallmadge, OH 44278.
