Miodrag Cukovic

"I was born in Zvornik, Yugoslavia, and in 1957 I immigrated to the United States of America, Chicago, where I finished my high school education. After high school I was accepted to the University of Illinois from where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in metallurgical engineering. After serving in the U.S. Military - Army, I began my career at Goodyear Aerospace in Akron, OH. In 1968, I married my best friend, the love of my life - Nada. Our marriage was blessed with the birth of our two daughters Maria (Dr. Greg) Kovacevich and Dana (Dwight) Axtell, who in time blessed us with eight grandchildren; Dr. Alexsandra (Hugo Le Du) Kovacevich, Michael (Dr. Annie Taylor) Kovacevich, Megan Kovacevich, Abigail Kovacevich, Kathryn Kovacevich, Nicole Kovacevich, and Alexis Axtell and Emily Axtell. Throughout my career, which began at Goodyear Aerospace, I progressed from senior metallurgical engineer to the vice president of operations at Loral Defense Division/ Lockheed Martin Inc. For every one of us that was born, a time comes to leave this world. Mine is now. To my family and my friends; do not shed any tears for me. I had a beautiful life. Mike was an active member of St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox church and the Kosovo Men's Choir. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his extended "Panera" family. Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff of Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center, Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Hospital, Brookdale Montrose, Visiting Angels and Veterans Affairs. Extra special thanks to the physicians, and close personal friends, Dr. John Wegryn, Dr. Kevin Silver, and Dr. Anthony Hayek as well as the multitude of selfless caregivers who made him comfortable.
The family will receive friends Monday July 10, 2023, from 3 to 7 pm at The Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 South Main St., Akron where a Parastas Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday July 11, 2023, at 10:00 am at Saint Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church, 3106 Ridgewood Road, Akron OH 44321 where the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. Donations my be made to St. Demetrius Church or the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Fairlawn OH 44333.
