September 28, 1917 — November 22, 2015

Michael Joseph Kulick, 98, passed into eternal life on November 22, 2015, on the Feast of Christ the King, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Kipling, OH on September 28, 1917 to the late Andrew & Elizabeth Kulick, Michael had been an Akron Resident since the end of World War II. Mike proudly served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps during WWII, serving in the 8th Air Force, 92nd Bomber Group, and the 407th and 326th Bomb Squadrons. He supported campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, Ardennes, and the Air Offensive of Europe. He was a distinguished recipient of the Bronze Star for meritorious service. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church for over 60 years, where he was a member of the holy hour group, and after his retirement, made nearly 40,000 rosaries, which were sent all over the world. Mike worked for the Summit County Receiving Hospital and for Doctor's Hospital in Massillon as an accountant. He retired as CEO of Reserve Roofing in 1982. Mike was an avid golfer, bowler, and Cleveland Indians fan. Most of all, Mike loved his God, his family, and his country.
In adbdition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his infant daughter Mary; siblings Paul, Andy, Ann, Mary, Katherine, and Helen; son-in-law Richard C. Smoot and grandson Richard M. Smoot. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Frances; his children Marie Smoot, Mike (Nancy) and James (Robin) Kulick; grandchildren Mike (Kelly), Gregory (Ali), Jonathan (Holly), Nathan (Melissa), Mackenzie Kulick, Kathleen Smoot, and Amy (James) Conley; great-grandchildren Rylee, Jonas, Kalyn, Elyse, Grant, Maxwell, and James.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11:00 am, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place Monday at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
