"The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother." (St. Therese)
The loss of our Mary brings us all a sense of sorrow. We rejoice, however, at the knowledge that a host of angels welcomed her to heaven. Among them are: her loving parents William and Mary, her siblings Patty, Laurene, Fred and Lois, brothers in law George and Kendall, her niece Marianne and her beloved daughter Leslie. Mom is elated, we know, that she is the first one to hug our Leslie again.
A proud graduate of Kenmore High School in 1951 Mary is a loving mother of five: Kevin, Kenny, Leslie Coffey (Chris), Robert and Dan (Cathy). Forever influenced by her loving presence and generosity are her grandsons: Jeremy, Vaughn, Grant and Andrew. She is treasured by her little sister Cheryl Gray. The Trumphour, Janis, Gray, Saniga, Mahoney and Cursaro families enjoyed the many blessings of Aunt Mary in their lives. She led us to Wolf Lake for vacations and established a life long family tradition. She led us onto the dance floor at Benitos to jitterbug, to Mingo Shelter for family reunions and she mixed a high ball or sneaky pete in a moment's notice. Family photos reflect her infectious smile and sense of fashion. Her ever positive attitude, presence and influence on all of us is indelible. Always personally humble, she was the biggest fan of any good thing a family member was doing and celebrated family accomplishments like no one else.
She dedicated herself to her family in every facet of her life. Going back to work later in life, she became a secretary in the Akron Public Schools and retired after 20 years. She made and kept many friends through her career in APS.
Born and raised in faith she was a practicing Catholic her entire life. She was an active leader in a Divorced and Separated Catholics Group for many years and was blessed with lifelong friendships through this calling. Those friends were her euchre partners for decades together and she treasures them.
Her strong connection to Immaculate Conception Church began as a child and lasted until the day she could no longer physically attend. She was a member of the choir there in grade school and joined again in her 80's.
We will always remember, no matter the circumstances, that her feet were perpetually on the "sunny side of the street." Ever buoyant was her personality and kind words toward all, her hallmark. Her frequent compliment regarding others was that they were: "cute, fun and funny." No one, dearest Mary, was as cute, fun and funny as you.
Isaiah 43:1-2: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
