Mary Bernadette (Vanchoff) Hirschfelt

Mary Hirschfelt, 95, passed away on November 4, 2021.
Mary was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Steve & Angeline Vanchoff and came to Akron as a young girl. She and her husband owned and operated Hirschfelt's Bakery in Firestone park for 31 years. They were active members of the ABC Polka club. She was a longtime and faithful member of Queen of Heaven Parish. Mary enjoyed her time volunteering with Good Neighbors. She was adventurous, crafty, and loved to laugh and would always remind others "Smile, God loves you".
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Alexander; son Michael; siblings Paul, Helen Bellack and George; and son-in-law Arch Rose. She is survived by her children Maryann Johnson, Phillip Hirschfelt, Roseann Rose, Paula (Tommie) Woods, Barbara (Rick) Twigg; brother Nick (Vivian) Vanchoff; grandchildren Tony, Jeff, & Greg Clement, Brian, Danny, & Tim Rose, Roianne McCann, and Sunnie Woods; 18 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many other loved ones.
Private services were held. Mary was interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or to Queen of Heaven Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown OH 44685.
