It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Theresa Hastings, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on August 26, 1959, in Akron, Ohio, Mary dedicated her life to caring for others, a commitment she exemplified throughout her cherished career in case management with Buckeye Insurance.
Mary's warmth and compassion touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Hastings; their beloved son, Austin Hastings; as well as her siblings, Michael Sax, Kathie Gween, and Debbie Battle. Each of them carries forward her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support.
Mary's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and countless memories. Her presence will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those whose lives she enriched.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Mary's life and bid her farewell during the following services:
Family will receive friends on Monday Dec 2, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home at 811 Grant St , Akron OH, allowing friends and loved ones to offer their condolences and share in the remembrance of Mary's spirit. A funeral service will conclude the evening at 7 p.m. with Pastor Steve Jenkins officiating.
A private service will be held Tuesday with the family when
Mary will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, located at 100 East Waterloo Road, Akron, OH 44319, where she will find eternal peace.
In honoring Mary's life, we invite all who knew her to share loving memories and cherish the beauty of the time spent together. She may have departed from our sight, but her spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
Mary was preceded in death by:her parents Robert Sax, Mary Sax, her son Justin Hastings.
