Mary V. Halcomb, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 6, 2015. Born in Kenvie, Ky., Mrs. Halcomb has been an Akron resident for most of her life. She was currently a member of the Green Family Worship Center. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she is survived by her husband of 62 years, Sam; daughters, Rosanna (Phillip) Freeman, and Sonja (Bill) Shaffer; grandchildren, Timothy (Christine) and Robert Halcomb, David (Tristen) and Jennifer Calhoun; great-grandchildren, Adam Halcomb, Sophia Calhoun and David Calhoun Jr.; sister Flora Green; and loyal pet and companion, "Peep" the dog. She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert and Samuel, as well as several siblings. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811Grant St.) where Rev. Richard Hoskins will officiate a funeral service at 11:00. Interment at Glendale Cemetery will follow. The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Pebble Creek Nursing Home for their loving and professional care to Mom during her stay there.
