Mary Codrea, of Marco Island, Florida, was reunited for eternity with her beloved husband John N. Codrea, on December 16, 2022. She was born on March 27,1924 in Newton Falls, Ohio, to Eli and Verna Morrison, and was the oldest of five siblings. She was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Warren, Ohio, Class of 1942, and was wedded to the love of her life on September 8, 1946. Mary and John raised five children, and in 1960 had the great adventure of taking the entire family half way around the world, to Tehran, Iran, for nearly five years, when John was tasked with building and running the first tire factory in Iran for B.F. Goodrich. They retired to Marco Island, Florida in 1983, and enjoyed spending time together on the many golf courses in the area. Mary was a fabulous cook, an avid crossword puzzle fan and also loved to learn languages. She maintained her love of walking throughout her life and never lost her ability to beat her kids at Scrabble.
Mary is survived by her five children, John E. Codrea (Judy), Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Codrea, David N. Codrea (Maureen), Robert W. Codrea (Sara), and Carolyn E. Sunday (Edmund); grandsons David L. Codrea, John Leo Codrea (Chang Liu), Nicholas M. Codrea, Eli D. Codrea, and Zachary D. Codrea; by her great granddaughter, Claire Liu Codrea; by her sister Melvina McCormick of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary's quick wit and deadly sense of humor were a force of nature. Mary was a firecracker!
