Mary Ann (Lapenna) Mcgowan

Mary Ann McGowan, 87, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
Mary Ann was born in Akron to the late Frank and Anna LaPenna and was a lifelong area resident. She was a lifelong, faithful member of St. John the Baptist Church, where she participated in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Mary Ann was also a member of the Jednota 553 and the Firestone Park Prime Timers.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband James and brother Don LaPenna. She is survived by her son Jim (Stacy) McGowan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, June 16 at St. John the Baptist Church, 1034 Brown St, Akron, OH 44301 where the family will receive friends beginning at 10AM. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society via https://summithumane.org/ or to the church.
