Mark Anthony Fox, 68, went into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on September 11, 2026.
Mark was a proud 1976 graduate of North High School. He went on to attend the University of Akron where he played football. After his college years, Mark spent many hours coaching players on the football fields at both Coventry and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. He was a dedicated public servant working for the City of Akron Highway Maintenance Department for 30 years until his retirement.
A gentle giant of man, Mark was known for his immense kindness, strength, and unwavering warmth. He loved meeting new people and was always generous with his time and resources, ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mark was deeply devoted to his faith and could always find him in his favorite back row pew on Sunday mornings.
Mark was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, coach, and friend. He was the true love of his wife's life, Judith Kury Fox, and his loving granddaughter, Zoe Isabella Peck, daughter of Joshua Peck. Mark was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Mary Jo, one of his loves of life, whose life was taken far too soon. Her loss was one he carried deeply in his heart.
One of Mark's greatest joys had been coaching Mary Jo and her team at St. Anthony CYO basketball, where they went on to win an eighth-grade championship. The love he shared with Mary Jo was a bond that time could never break. Mark and Mary Jo are together again in the loving arms of Jesus- a reunion he surely longed for.
Mark was also preceded in death by his mother and father, Patricia and Richard Fox, mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Josephine Kury, Jeremiah Hoch, Kraig Kreiner, Dominic Diluillo, and Clara Fox. Mark is survived by his brothers and sisters, Richard, Fred, Kathy Kreiner, Elizabeth Diluillo, Michael (Melanie Blair), Susan (Richard} Cervelli, and Patricia (Farris) Owen, as well as his brother-in-law, Joseph (Mary Kury), along with many nieces and nephews.
Mark will be remembered for his kind and strong spirit, his faith, his love of family, his dedication to others, and the many lives he touched throughout his life. He leaves behind cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Special thanks to the Kury family, Mike Fox and Melanie, Shelley Roten Freeman, Daniel (Fishy) Foley, and all those thoughtful friends and family that helped care for Mark.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 5-7 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 10, 10:30 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 4019 Manchester Rd. in the Portage Lakes. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be created for Mark's one and only and most beloved granddaughter, Zoe. Donations can be given to Judy Kury Fox.
