Mark Samuel Anthony

Mark S. Anthony, 74, passed away on February 13, 2023.

Born in Akron on May 6, 1948 to the late Harley & Miriam Anthony, Mark attended Buchtel High School and then Central Hower High School before enlisting in the US Marine Corps in 1966. A decorated war veteran, Mark served as a Radiotelephone Operator, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his enlistment, he worked at Ohio Bell, B & O Railroad, finishing his employment as a Quality Control Inspector for the tire industry. His hobbies included music, bowling, woodworking and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by sister Rae Jean Dallinga and brother William Anthony. He is survived by his daughters Marie Spencer and Sarah (Jon) Anderson; grandchildren Elliot and Simon Spencer, Jonah, Benjamin, Evelyn and Novalie Anderson; sister Barbara Burkey; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Peggy Lombardo and Denise Holben of Maxim Health and the incredible staff of the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at the Cleveland VA Medical Center for their excellent care and attention of Mark.


A celebration of Mark's life will take place on Thursday, March 2, with friends being received at 5pm and a service at 6pm, at Victory Life Church 3833 Hudson Dr. Stow, OH 44224. A private entombment, with full military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
