Marion Kruty

June 18, 1932 — August 7, 2021

Marion Kruty (nee Vjecha), 89, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2021 surrounded by loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Bob Kruty, Sr., her daughter Kim Kruty, her great granddaughters Aly and Emma Johnson, parents Victor and Antonia Vjecha, sister Marge Kovalik and brother Ed Vjecha.

Marion is survived by her children Bob (Sue), Denise (Ken), Cindy (Bob), and John (Julie); grandchildren Mindy (Bill), Melissa (Mike), Meghan (Matt), Rocky, Joey (Christa), Jennifer (James), Danny (Mary Kate), David (Lindsey), Matt (Kirsten), Gabrielle, and Jack; great-grandchildren Christopher, Willy, Nicholas, Ellie, Jimmy, Austin, Ava, Allie, Emily, Natalie, Jack, Daniel, Cooper, Cora, Blake and Luke; and sister Mary Ellen (Rich).

Marion grew up on the near west side of Cleveland and met her husband at James Ford Rhodes High School. She worked at Mystic Foam corporation in Cleveland before finding her true vocation as mother to five children, and later as the driving force behind the success of the family enterprise at Tamsin Park Campground. Bob and Marion had taken their children camping at Tamsin for years before making the decision to purchase the campground in 1971. While Bob and the children all worked hard to maintain the nearly 100 acre facility, it was Marion who kept the books, oversaw much of the operation, and truly kept the place running. She was unfailingly gracious and generous, and she had the wisdom and discipline to keep the Tamsin staff running smoothly.

When the family sold the campground in 1986, Marion and Bob took the opportunity to travel widely - and their children inherited the love of travel and the great outdoors. They continued the family camping tradition with motorhome travel and they loved taking boating trips to Canada. They also shared some memorable travel experiences including London, Paris, Alaska, and Colorado.

Marion was celebrated as an extraordinarily talented home cook. Her best dishes reflected her Slovak heritage. She welcomed each daughter-in-law with a traditional Slovak cookbook and she brought a KitchenAid mixer as a gift to every family wedding. She remembered every birthday and anniversary, and she relished get-togethers with her ever-growing family.
