Maria (Tayka) Cerovski

Maria "Tayka" Cerovski (nee Yavornik), 87, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 after a brief illness. Maria was born September 26, 1929 in Kulpin (Yugoslavia). She, her husband and two daughters arrived in the U.S. in 1968 and settled in Akron and had been an Akron resident since. Upon their arrival, the family joined Firestone Park Lutheran Church and following the death of her beloved husband, Daniel in 1986 joined St. John St. Paul Lutheran Church and is currently a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Maria in survived by her daughters, Milotka (Robert) Liebelt and Anna (John) Greathouse; grandsons, Jonathan (Beth) Greathouse and Jason Greathouse; great grandchildren, Eli and Avery Greathouse; who all called her TAYKA. She had a great talent for gardening and received awards from the City of Akron for the most beautiful flowers on her street. She spent time crocheting and provided the slippers and baby blankets to her family, many friends and neighbors. She enjoyed crafts in general. She was the best cook and baking DIVA in the world. She will be missed and we all love her. May she rest in peace. The family will receive friends Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron.
