Madelynne C. Horak, 80, known as "Baba" by her granddaughters, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023, in The Villages, FL. Madelynne was born in Akron, OH, to the late Andrew and Helen Kavulla. Her brother, Fred (Nancy) Kavulla, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband and love of over 57 years, Thomas; daughter Jennifer (Mike Brown) Horak; son Brian (Cindy) Horak; granddaughters Paige and Alexa; and many beloved family and close friends.
She graduated from St. Mary High School and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Akron, where she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority. Madelynne worked as a teacher for Akron Public Schools for 40 years.
Over the years, Madelynne enjoyed vacationing with family and friends. After her retirement, Madelynne's love for travel continued taking her and Tom to the South Pacific and Alaska for their 50th wedding anniversary.
Madelynne also enjoyed traveling across county to Oregon, hitting the casinos along the way, to spend time with her granddaughters shopping and watching Christmas movies, as that was her favorite holiday.
In 2021 Madelynne and Tom moved to The Villages, FL, where they enjoyed many activities with friends.
Rest assured that Madelynne is at peace, having a glass of Chardonnay or two, playing the slots and cards, and dancing the night away in Heaven.
