Lynley S. Hileman, Jr., 77, of Stow, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 9, 2015.
Born in Pennsylvania Mr. Hileman has been an area resident since 1969. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. In 2000 he retired from MacTac after 17 years of service.
Daddy never knew a stranger, he had the gift of gab and did not mind sharing his Faith and passion for Christ to anyone that would listen. When he was able to drive he spent time in prison ministry for troubled youth at the detention center. He was their Thursday night Bible study leader.
He enjoyed sewing, included in his ongoing projects was making buddy dolls for Summit County children's services and learning dolls for children at Akron Children's Hospital. He also sewed lap blankets for the AGMC hospice center.
He was an avid reader and was in a never ending search for the best book and best author to further his understanding of God's Word. I know this because his house is bursting at the seams with books!
When he was able, he loved tinkering with cars. As kids growing up, we never knew when Daddy would arrive at home with another "fixer upper". We knew not to be attached to any mode of transportation, as it may be sold or traded for the next project.
He had many hobbies and enjoyed learning something new. Gardening, photography, and computers just to name a few.
Passion for people when unable to drive was a challenge, in lieu of traveling he simply began inviting folks over. Whether playing board games and dominos, having a meal, or participating in a Bible study, Daddy was most happy when he had folks to visit and chat with.
He has always been dedicated to his church and service was second nature, whether greeting at the door, ushering or assisting with little ones in Awana's, Daddy was in his glory while serving at church.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Thelma; children, Lynna (husband, Jerry, deceased) Gron, Lorin (Wanda) Hileman, and Lavonne (Tim) Fawcett; grandchildren, Melanie (Jeremy) Silvers, Justin Gron, Megan (Michael) Hileman, Eric (Alissa) Fawcett; great grand-children, Fletcher, Braden, Trenton, Collin, and Brody; and brother, Wayne (Marlene) Hileman.
