Lois Jane (Halaiko) Perge

Lois Jane (Halaiko) Perge, 91, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at Summa Barberton Hospice. Jane was born July 1,1926 in New Straitsville, Ohio to Joseph and Bess (Ward) Callahan. She was happily married to Michael J. Halaiko from August 31, 1946 until his death June 25, 1969, living in Akron. In 1971, Jane relocated to Columbus and was Office Manager for Dr. Edwin Seasons. In 1986, Jane returned to Akron, where she met and married the late, Jim Perge. She was currently living at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living in Barberton where she had many friends. Jane was a faithful and active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was involved in Kenmore Senior Citizens. She loved to bake and was renowned for her chocolate chip and Christmas cookies. She also enjoyed playing cards and casino trips. Jane was very proud of her Irish Heritage. In addition to her parents and husbands, Jane was preceded in death by her grandson, John Shea, siblings Richard Callahan, Margaret Zymroz, Joe Callahan, Sr. Andrea Callahan OSU, Alice Wilson, Rosemary Kullman and infant brother Thomas. She is survived by her children Stephen (Eileen) Halaiko, J. Michael (Janie) Halaiko, T. Patrick (Cathy Blackford) Halaiko, Mary Beth (Matt) Shea, Jeanne (Gerald) Rocco and Rosie (Phil) Newlon; brother-in-law Jerry Kullman; Grandchildren Joseph (Shelly Roder) Halaiko, Stephanie (David) Sykes, Mark Halaiko, Michael J. (Kristan) Halaiko, Khrista (Jordan) Achtermann, Patrick Halaiko, Brian Halaiko, Jennifer (Sean) Simmons, Madeline (Graham) Nieder, Anthony Rocco, Michelle Corbin, Allison (Jeff) Yoakam, Jordan Newlon and Sedona Newlon; Great Grandchildren Sylvia Halaiko, Jacob Halaiko, Joshua Halaiko, Jeremy Sykes, Andrew Sykes, Mia Halaiko, Olivia Achtermann, Kalahan Achtermann, John Simmons and Liam Simmons. The family will receive friends Tuesday (TODAY) July 11, 2017 at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron from 5:00-8:00PM. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30AM, and continue with the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd, Akron, OH 44319. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis de Sales Church, Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living, 220 3rd St SE, Barberton, OH 44203, or Summa Barberton Hospice and Palliative Care.
