Linda Ann Roman, May 31, 1951 - January 18, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda after an incredibly brave 19-month battle with ovarian cancer. Linda's true life began 15 years ago when she moved closer to her beloved grandbabies. Kyle, Nolan, and Maddie were her entire world and the driving force behind her determination to fight. Linda cherished spoiling them with endless joy, including spontaneous trips to Target, making gingerbread houses (even this past Christmas), and always ensuring there was an abundance of Christmas candy.
Kyle will forever remember cooking breakfast with Grandma when he was younger, making "smiley faces" out of eggs and bacon. Nolan will miss her unique way with words, as well as her delicious warm chicken salad and broccoli casserole. Maddie will always hold dear Grandma's homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs, along with the way she would always make sure Maddie was included in dinner conversations.
We will miss the laughter from Linda's "Linda-isms." She had a fondness for celebrity gossip, even if she was usually about a week behind on the latest news. A devoted Taylor Swift fan, she once humorously called the song "Anti-Hero" "Teatime." And, of course, we could always count on Linda to entertain us with her directionally challenged storytelling - gesturing with her hands, only to point in the opposite direction of the place she was talking about.
In addition to spending precious time with her grandchildren, Linda was able to enjoy the things she loved most, including occasional trips to Florida and frequent visits to Las Vegas. We'd often laugh while trying to figure out "Linda math" - she'd say she was "only going for seven days," but when we checked the calendar, it was usually a full week longer (sometimes even more).
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ann O'Neill, and her infant brother, Kelly. She leaves behind her daughter and primary caregiver, Nicki, son-in-law Rick (handyman, IT support, light bulb replacement specialist, and more), and her grandchildren, the lights of her life, Kyle, Nolan, and Maddie. She is also survived by her brothers Terry, Ed, and Larry (Debbie) O'Neill, and her sister Laura (Al) Koch.
Nicki and Rick would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Linda's exceptional medical team, including Dr. Clarissa Polen-De and her compassionate staff, as well as Megan, Rella, and John from the infusion center. Your care, support, and laughter in caring for "spicy" Linda were invaluable. Special thanks also go to the hospice nurses at Summa, including Kris and Don, for their kindness and comfort. Additionally, Nicki and Rick are thankful for the distraction and joy provided by #sundayfunday throughout this journey. Linda was deeply appreciative of the wonderful people who surrounded her daughter with love and support.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 4:00-7:00PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, McGowan-Reid and Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave in Cuyahoga Falls, where a funeral service will be celebrated at 7:00PM.
