Leo Rusov

d. December 22, 2016

Leo Rusov went to be with our Lord on December 22nd, 2016, just one day shy of his 95th birthday. He was truly a good man, and we are sad that our time with him has passed.
He was a good son who cared for his family deeply- caring especially for his mother, father, sister, and brother until their deaths. He was a brave young man who would tell stories of General Patton and of his tour of duty in Europe during World War II. He was a bright and hardworking businessman, owning and operating grocery stores and a laundry mat, which he ran with integrity and goodwill as a service to his community. He was a loving and tender partner to Betty Peters for the last ten years of her life. Their friendship spanned more than fifty years even as their romantic life together was but ten short years before she went to await him in heaven six years ago. They are together again now.
Leo touched all who knew him well and left an indelible mark on each of us. He gave of himself in wise and humble ways, and we are better for having known him. He was wise in the ways of life and love and saw the best in others while giving little attention to the foolishness among us. He was a genuinely GOOD person.
He leaves behind his nephew, Joe Rusov and Joe's wife Kay, who have been a constant in his life; his cousin, Sandy, with whom he loved to reminisce about their family; Garry Jones, who was like a son to him, together with Laura and sons, Nathan and Justin (it was Garry who made it possible for Leo to continue to live an independent life in the comfort of his own home as age took its toll on him); Judy Speak, Betty's daughter, who saw his goodness and remains so grateful that he gave her mom some of the best years of her life by the way he loved her, together with Judy's partner, Dr. Sudarshan Kumar (Leo's friend and medical advisor when in California), Dan and Lori Speak, and Justin and Riane Speak who put him at the "head of the table"; his friend, Madalyl Struss, the widow of his long-time friend, Tom Struss; and Bob and Eleanor Shoenfielt, his dear friends and confidants, on whom he counted as family.
Dear Leo, we thank you for living such an honorable life and for so significantly touching our lives. We will miss you and will take joy in knowing you are with the Lord.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S.
