Laurence J. Karadin, 86, of Barberton, OH, got his angel wings on October 5, 2023. He was born in Akron, OH to parents Joseph and Mary Karadin (nee Beskitt) on August 20, 1937. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and proud of his service in the military. He was also a member of the Lighter-Than-Air Society of Akron, OH, and spent many hours as a volunteer guide at the MAPS Air Museum. He worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for over 35 years.
Larry was married to his sweetheart, Judy, just 2 hours shy of 61 years. He loved his 6 children, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, all things military, American history, classic cars, watching Sunday football, golf, music (especially the Eagles), good food, and napping in his favorite chair. He was soft spoken, easy going, generous and kind. He was immeasurably loved by his family, and will be missed beyond words.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Mary. He is survived by his wife, Judy (nee Kulton), children Mary (Mark) Switzer, John Karadin, Christine (Brett) Watkins, Lisa (John) Apynys, Stephanie (Eric) Smith, and Joseph (Hsin) Karadin, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Thursday, October 12 at Sacred Heart church in Wadsworth, OH, at 11:00 am with funeral mass to follow at noon. Interment will follow at Holy Cross cemetery in Akron, OH. There will be a luncheon afterward at Anthony funeral home. Donations may be made in Larry's memory to MAPS Air Museum, where he was a volunteer guide, or the L-T-A Society of which he was a member (blimpinfo.com).
