Laura Ann Pruchnicki, 51, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.
Laura was born in Cleveland on October 10, 1974, at 10:10am and was a proud 1993 graduate of Woodridge High School. She then continued her education at Ohio Northern University. There, she distinguished herself not only academically but also athletically as a Hall of Fame softball catcher-an honor that reflected her dedication and talent on the field. She went on to graduate in 1997 with her bachelor's degree in Communications.
She later became a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where she served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion, and a member of the Parish Council. There, she made impacts in everyone's lives through her dedication and faith to the Church.
Laura was also an avid world traveler with her mom for years, getting to see everywhere from Europe to one of their favorite trips together to Australia. She was able to see the world, always planning trips around her birthday 10/10, and although short, was able to live her life to the fullest.
The most lasting impression of Laura's time here was her extraordinary impact through her commitment to helping others-donating an incredible 225 platelet donations and 420 lifetime units through the American Red Cross. Her selflessness touched countless lives and stands as a testament to her enduring legacy of kindness.
Laura is survived by her parents Robert (Patricia) Pruchnicki and Kathryn (Ron) Smotek; brothers Rob & Ron (Katherine) Pruchnicki and sister Dr. Kelly (Drew) Pruchnicki-Murray; niece Grace, Morgan god-daughter, nephews River & Nathan, numerous cousins, uncles, and aunts, and her beloved cats, Mick and Mack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James SIngler on Saturday, January 10, 12 pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls. The family will receive friends at IHM from 10:00 am until Noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Laura's memory to the American Red Cross by visiting www.redcross.org.
